There are several ways to find people on twitter. After you sign up you can choose find people and import your contact emails from your email program and it will search to see if there are any of the people you know that have themselves signed up. Or you can invite them, but most people you know probably won’t join unless they already know about twitter. You can also search by name, but it’s the twitter name, not necessarily their real name. So sometimes that a little difficult.
Another great thing to do is just to follow someone else. If you go to the public time line (click everyone on your right hand side) and you can track what the world is tweeting about right now. If any discussions sound interesting, just follow that person. They then might start following you and others that follow that person may start following you, etc. It’s kind of like that old shampoo commercial from way back “You tell two friends and so on and so on…”.
